Hanukkah
Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. We see Jesus going to the Temple to commemorate Hanukkah (the Feast of Dedication), so we mark it as well.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
We gather in the sanctuary to worship God, celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and renew our hope. The chancel choir will lead the music and the service will conclude with the traditional lighting of candles. This service will also be available as a live-stream.
Christmas Eve Family Service
Join us for this informal Christmas pageant in which the children tell us the story of Christmas through the ABC's.
Lessons & Carols Service
The Lessons and Carols service originated at Cambridge University in England in the early 20th century and remains a favorite through the generations, for young and old alike.
This Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Advent. The fourth candle of Advent represents Love, the ultimate love of God that He might send His only Son for us. Called the “Angel's Candle,” the fourth candle of Advent is lit the Sunday before Christmas.

Third Sunday of Advent
Advent wreaths have four candles that remind us that Christ is the light of the world. One of these candles is rose or pink. We light it on Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday in Advent, to represent joy and anticipation of Christmas.
Second Sunday of Advent
Advent II focuses on John the Baptist, the Gentiles being included in God's family, Christ's coming in judgment and peace, and the church's hopeful expectation of the completion of his promises. The theme the second Sunday of Advent is peace.
First Sunday of Advent
The First Sunday of Advent is the first day of Advent, a season of preparation for Christmas and the Second Coming of Christ. It's also the first day of the liturgical year in Western Christian churches.

Native American Heritage Day is a civil holiday observed on the day after Thanksgiving in the United States.
Halloween
Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31, and Halloween 2024 will occur on Thursday, October 31. Here in Irvington and Sleepy Hollow we are proud of our famous Headless Horseman, from the book after Washington Irving. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
